Welcome to my humble website. Scrutinize This doubles as a portfolio site and as a place where I can talk about things that interest me in the design world and my quest to leave my indelible mark on the world through art.

POSTING MORE POSTERS

One Block
A poster for a local street cleaning PSA. I have 0 experience doing isometric desings and it’s something I find interesting so perhaps there will be more in the future. The only aspect of such in this piece is the small city block which I had fun making. I’m loving the font for the “One Block At A Time” title. It’s called Bebas Neue and you can download it here (Bebas Neue – Dafont.com) if you like it.

CONTINUING THE CYCLE

Infinity Wheel

Finished another piece recently. I used my own photography in a few parts of it. Most notable of which was an injured butterfly that I was able to get right up close to to take pictures of (I’m talking inches away).

I had some fun in Illustrator for one aspect of the image that DIDN’T make it into the final product. Either way I learned something.

As always click the above image for a bigger version and enjoy. Feedback always wanted.

Metal Rabbit Media / Janet Brof

WHEN YOUR WORK GOES LIVE

Two websites I worked on at PlentyNYC are currently live. The first one was Metal Rabbit Media, a website devoted to keeping client online reputations positive. Sort of an online PR company, if you will. The second was a project for a friend of one of the partners at Plenty. It was a personal site for Janet Brof, a lovely lady who I had the pleasure of meeting at the office. Janet is an educational therapist who teaches children with various learning difficulties how to write and read through dance therapy. Here site can be found here at Janetbrof.com

I enjoyed working on both of these sites and you should check them out. The work both of these groups do is quite interesting. There’s something surreal about seeing a project you were a part of show up on the internet. It’s very personally rewarding to have work that anyone can see at any time.

Joining Art Forums Again

September 22nd, 2011

REVIVING THE PASSION

Back when I first got into graphic design through my friend the big thing of the moment were art forums. I still remember frequenting DX2 Designs, T9X Designs and Liquid-Core. At the time everybody was most interested in making cool “sigs” (small banners under forum posts)

Right now I have joined Intrinsic Nature’s (IN) art forum. IN is a well known digital art commune that releases big portfolios of peoples work they call ‘Experiments’ I will be submitting work regularly on their forum for criticism as well as give my own in the hopes that it will help me to grow as an artist.

Check out Intrinsic Nature’s work here: http://www.intrinsicnature.org/in/home/experiments

New Direction

ON THE HUNT AGAIN

So I’m back to looking for work since I’m no longer at Plenty. I learned a lot about myself and was able to see my strengths and weaknesses in a much clearer context. Right now, more than ever, I want to improve myself and become more invested in the art community as a whole. I want more followers for my website and I want my content to reflect that. I want my art to be more than just pretty pictures. I want them to have more importance to both me and the viewer. I want to continue broadening my skill set through 2D design, drawing and, lately, painting. My roommate and I were talking about what are ultimate motivation is; At the ideal pinnacle of you career “where do you want to be?” It wasn’t a difficult question to answer. In 10 years I want to be exactly where Andrew Jones, my favorite current artist, is. On every design site I look at, in every art magazine I read I always see his work. It has become such a benchmark for me to try and reach as of late. The problem I’m facing are the distractions: the procrastination, the tv, the video games. These are all things I’ve struggled with keeping control over in the past. I’m trying different techniques for staying on the right track. What techniques do you readers use when you feel like your spending too much time on life’s distractions?

FINISHING A NEW PIECE

I’ve been working off and on with this piece for a while now and I’m finally finished with it. A lot of thought went into this one as I’ve been in a bit downward spiral of personal doubt. I feel like my work needs to be way better than it is right now and I tried to channel all the thoughts and discussions about that into this piece. I really like how it turned though so maybe it’s a step in the right direction.

Major Site Re-Design

A NEW LOOK

Please pardon our dust. I’m redesigning this site to be a bit more streamline and easier on the eyes. Please bear with me for the time being. The portfolio page is still in working order so feel free to browse my work while I bring this redesign into completion. Thanks!
